As we mark World Mental Health Day, it's the perfect time to highlight the calming and restorative effects of spending time in nature — especially when you're in the company of alpacas!
Here at Beirhope Alpacas, walking with these gentle animals isn’t just fun; it's a boost for your mental well-being too.
One of my favourite escapes is wandering up to Thowlestaine Hill Fort. It’s a cherished ritual that allows me to clear my head and breathe in the clean, crisp autumn air.
As I ascend, I lose myself in the enchanting sounds of the countryside — buzzards soaring above, cattle and sheep grazing in the distance, and the gentle breeze dancing through the trees. I find comfort in the trickle of the nearby stream and the satisfying crunch of leaves beneath my feet, a reminder of the beauty that surrounds us.
